Andraia Mille, Council Delegate – Legislature committee in regards to the New Grad requirements and everyone requiring a Regents Diploma in order to qualify for a diploma. Also they are trying to create a Health, Wellness and Safety Committee which will meet once a month @ NYA this committee will discuss our lunch menus and what choices etc are being offered to our children if you are interested please contact Andraia for further information.

Gay on behalf of the PTA presented a Collage to the Board of Education as a Thank you from Smithtown Elementary.
$400 was raised at the Bake Sale during the Square Dance which was donated to the Smithtown Emergency Food Pantry.
38 Pints of Blood were donated @ our Blood Drive, which is on the low side but was MUCH appreciated by LI Blood Services as we are in desperate need of blood on LI.
The Scarecrows are currently on display through the beginning of next week, they have been a big success and everyone enjoyed making them, be sure to take a look at them .
The Playground Committee Art Auction is Friday evening at the Elks Club, please try to join Susan Scatoni and support this much needed event and fundraiser.
Our School Improvement Team volunteer parent candidates that have been voted in for this year are Maureen Unser and Sonja Lorrain-CONGRATULATIONS and thank you!
Cindy re: Holiday Boutique will take place on December 5th, 8th and 9th the Book fair will also take place during the Holiday Boutique on December 5th.
Our School Fair will be February 7th, let’s make it a family affair and invite Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles etc…this year theme is still under discussion.

Giving and Sharing Committee- Snowman will be given out at the December meeting and than also be available at the greeters desk.
Jackie re: Box Tops for Education, we received a $1280.00 check for last years box tops and we expect an additional check in the amount of $380.00 in December, this is free money for the PTA, please keep sending in the Box Tops and Campbell’s and Tyson food labels!
Friday October 31st Ragamuffin parade was once again a great success and the children and parents and staff had a great time!
The buses are starting to act up and Mr Graf has had to make a visit onto the buses due to behavior on the buses which he is addressing as needed.
The Connect Ed program is up and running with automatic messages calling the homes with updated information. Parent University attendance was not as high as the last event we had and believes that is due to the fact that possibly because it was not held in conjunction with the PTA meeting.
Report cards will be distributed the Friday after Thanksgiving break (December 5th).
Mr Graf is looking into creating and online study/homework/practice test sight for Smith Elem students and will advise us on the developments as they are available.
Accelerated reading program is in effect.
Think about what do we want from our town for our children….has anyone noticed the amounts of teenagers that are hanging out in the local parking lots because there is no where for the kids to go?
