Jaclyn Trotta, 1st Vice President - no report

Carole Bercher, 2nd Vice President – no report

Sonya Sulton, Treasurer – Beginning Balance $47,618.59, Deposits $2,777.83, Disbursements $10,518.52, ending Balance $39,877.90.

Beth Lauria, Corresponding Secretary – distributed the mail

Diana Pisacone, Recording Secretary – no report

Andraia Miller, Council Delegate – Parent University March 9th “Drugs in our Town” High School Scholarship program with the Smithtown Performing Arts, mention Smithtown Elementary and $3.00 per ticket purchased will be donated to the scholarship.

Gay Campisi, President –Superintendents meeting Budget discussed state still changing the numbers. Business Affairs Office/Citizens Advisory Budget meetings Sonya Lorrain attending on Mondays. The proposed budget Administrators-no raise this year. Ed Ehman pressuring teacher’s union 2010 contracts. Parent University rescheduled from April 27th to March 9th. Topics to be discussed regarding Drug use, babysitters etc email suggestions on web site and hope to address issues. A Health Educator is the key note speaker.

Contest for the most parents to join the PTA from one class.

Committee’s Report:

PARP The most PARP participation was in Ms. Spucci’s class. Hosted a luncheon today TEDDY BEAR BOOKS. There was a tremendous lack of participation with PARP.

School Fair help is still needed. Saturday, February 7th.

Sue- Sports Night 2/27 Smithtown HS East 7PMDeadline to purchase tickets is Wednesday, NO TICKETS at the DOOR. Team colors will be sent home to the students.

Playground Committee a Not for Profit Company needs to be formed, insurance is needed also. Hoping to raise $20K for this year, we have approximately $5K so far. The following are upcoming fund raisers for the Playground: Golf Outing Needs HELP Monday May 11th. Ducks Game, Friday @ 7PM, Spiritwear, Selling Bricks, Clam Bake planned for June, Steel Drum Band, Clothing Drive.

Arts and Ed: Local Artist is painting a mural by the Gym March 15th. New Years Ball, Sister Act had lots of Energy the kids loved them!

Principal Mr Graf:

Sister Act was a big hit at the New Years Ball. The Islanders Reps. Sunday Ms. Lewis’ art @ Stony Brook Museums. Cub Scouts Blue and Gold event. Girl Scouts Sing Along with Mr. Graf. HS West production of DAMN YANKEES Mr. Graf is Old Joe, 1950’s movie the 1st weekend in March. The singing bus driver for K & 1st grades. Main Street Fair was a big Success. RIF is terrific. Big Red Book Shelf, is operated on the honor code, self service. Upcoming letter to be sent home with the schedule for the upcoming events Science Fair letters will be going home next week. Science fair April 2nd. Kindergarten enrollment is currently 75, expecting the mid 80’s to be enrolled. ELA’s Math Series, Writing Series. Study Island ELA, MATH Science and Social Studies training the teachers in grades 2-5. Title 1 Grant. AIS Room has a Smart Board. Program was purchased for online. Frist week of March is the Math Assessments.
