Movie Night has been rescheduled for Friday, September 25th and will be rescheduled for October 2nd if there is rain for the 25th.
PARP “Parents as Reading Partners” details will follow shortly, howwever it is scheduled for the week of October 19th.
School Fair-is a Carnival type of event that is held at the school each year. It has been decided that due to the expense, time and volunteers that are required that we will host this event every other year, this school year being the year that it is held, on the opposite years that we do not host this event we will host Family Fun Night and Sports Night.
Playground Committee has raised approximately $20,000 and additional $30,000 is needed. They are hoping to have some type of sketch drawn up so the kids and parents will be able to see what is planned for the new playground. They will be hosting several events and fundraising through out the year to help raise the remaining funds that are needed. Please help support this great cause and watch for future information. Proposed 2009/2010 PTA budget has been proposed and adopted.
Watch for information being sent home on the next Parent University, they will be discussing the “Swine Flu” on October 26th.
This year we have 636 students and 28 classes, last year we had 609 students and 29 classes, class sizes are larger this year, but within the recommended allowed amounts. We had 17 buses last year and only 15 buses this year.
Back to School Nights will be as follows:
K & 1st Tuesday, September 22nd @ 7:15
2nd & 3rd Thursday September 24th @ 7:15
4th and 5th Tuesday, September 29th @ 7:15
We will be discussing and presenting the new report cards, new math programs that are available via the internet and reading practices. Expectations from the students and recycling in the cafeteria
STEMS is an “Enrichment Program” that students will be invited to participate in about a month or so, there will be two 10 weeks sessions.
There was a bus incident at the entrance of the school, where a person who was here to vote tried to get around the buses by exiting the entrance and there was a minor incident, no injuries.
With concern of the H1N1 “Swine Flu Virus” the district will be installing Antibacterial Foam Pumps in a few locations throughout the school, the children will be encouraged to use them prior to eating etc.
The district is managing the spread of the flu by disinfecting the schools on a regular basis.
We have five new smart boards, every class has a Smart Board or a Proxima.
Teacher Reps this year are Ms. Mogel and Mr Ryvicker.
